Day 23
Today we went to a semi-charasmatic church this morning right over the border of South Africa. The pastor of this church is the brother in law to Dolly. The Umfundisi Mother (pastor's wife) is the sister of Dolly. Dolly has 8 sisters and two brothers. That is a lot of kids! Anyway, they're all grown up now. We met a man at this church who is an EWBC student, his name is Vusi.
Pretty much the rest of the day we travelled to Kruger, found out that there were no rooms in the camp, left Kruger and travelled for hours from hotel to hotel trying to find a place that wasn't outrageously expensive. Finally we found this place called Road Lodge which was nice and seemed a lot like a Harrington Inn.
After eating we watched a South African version of "the apprentice" and "africa's next supermodel". South African accents are very interesting. They're not quite british, but that is the accent that it sounds closest to. I'm able to tell the difference between South African (SA) and Australian, but it is a little hard to hear the difference between SA and UK accents unless you know the difference. A SA accent is the more relaxed british accent, i guess you could say. The national language, Afrikaans, is a mixture of many different languages that were put together into one language for everyone to learn in SA so that they could understand each other. If there is a country that is a true melting pot of different ethnic groups, it is SA.
